The Blog is going a New Direction
Although my writings have been a bit out of focus and definitely lacking in consistent postings, I have decided to take this blog in a different direction. The new direction comes with a bit of prodding and poking from my wife, who will be a contributing blogger. Because my wife and I love to eat out, and drawing from my past experience in the food service industry, we have decided to blog about the experience of "eating out." Both my wife and I have a habit of looking at any eatery with a critical eye, so it is fitting that we put down in words our reflections of those experiences. This new direction will feature postings of reviews of mostly restaurants and eateries, but will also touch on businesses that provide goods and services. We will focus on several characteristics of the business or restaurant: Customer Service, quality of food, atmosphere, likeability rating, constructive criticism, and overall outlook of the establishment. We will suppliment our postings with pictures and links to enhance the experience in order to aid you in your eating out choices. The outcome of this new blog direction will hopefully renew my passion of writing and push my wife and I out in a new, exciting venture in review writing. Hopefully this will be both helpful and interesting to read. Enjoy!

Sorry about the Hiatus
A whole lot has been going on lately. For one thing my store has been shut down. ISC Building Materials in College Station, Tx closed its doors in June and sent its workers scattering around for jobs. I am now a statistic; a mere unemployment figure. I'm an addition to the nationwide unemployment number: the 9 or 10% figure has now increased by .000001%, actually my friend John got laid off as well and now we are .000002% to the nationwide number. So, this is my new phase in life. I have now put tons of applications together, emails a plenty, resumes and cover letters updated and sent out, and still no job yet. I have some hopeful prospects out there, but I am continuing to carry on with the search. If y'all have any ideas I would love to here them.
I have also been busy hanging out with family, my mom, sister, bro-in-law and their kids, and friends like my old roommate Keith from Colorado State. I have had a great time and it has felt very much like I am on vacation. Although it has been relaxing, I hope I do not get too relaxed because I need to start a job soon. So, wish me luck as I continue to apply and search for jobs, and pray that I don't remain a national statistic.

Vacation
Do you ever find yourself sitting at your desk at your job thinking about a beach?
You are sitting out on a lawn chair or an out stretched towel way out on some pristine white sand beach
watching the tide pull in and push away, pull in, push away. You find youself watching the
wet sand change shape as it errodes carefully and smoothly away into the sea. I guess we should
blame all those Corona commercials for conditioning our brains to long for that restful, warm,
perfect climate where we throw our cell phones out into the blue and watch the waves crash in towards us.
I have recently found myself thinking about Cabo San Lucas' Club Cascadas beach on the Sea of Cortez
side of town. When I was a boy I used to travel there with my family almost every summer, but I never could seem to just sit there and rest. I was always doing something or going somewhere, or playing; I could
never just sit and relax. And now I want nothing more than to go back to that same beach; maybe I'd sip a few cocktails, maybe read a book, you know, just take it easy. I think that means that in this stage of my life I need to have a nice, calm, and relaxing vacation. I tell you what, I don't even need to go to a beach; I will take a nice calm river camping trip instead. I think the stress of the job is finally getting to me. I don't know,

a night it rained
I love the rain
lost focus and baby cries,
the scream of a tree
scrape lost above crackle of tight
rolled thunderous roar
"Honey it sounds like,
the roar of a lion,"
the deep grumbling bass, and
roll and bounce off dropplets
dropped off of rumbling bouncing
carports and rooftops
tick-tacking the sky with ease
and melody. I love the rain!

Disclaimer
I just wanted to take the time in order to warn you that I haven't been writing much since I got out of College six years ago, so it will take me a while to regain my flow and figure out what is worth writing about. Therefore, this blog will be more like a journal of splatter-thoughts. The Writest is HEEEEERRRRRRRREEEEEEE!
This is something new, a new attitude, an attempt to do the thing I love and to come at you with the blah in my brain. You will get anything and everything, so be aware. My blog is going to fuel a combustible explosion on to the literary scene and I hope nothing holds me back. Just try and stop me, and pray that I will not fizzle away and stop my self. I have a long road ahead to get where I would like to go, to be a writer of all sorts, but with dedication, self-discipline, an upbeat attitude, and some of God's good graces I have the confidence that I will get to that destination of doing what I love and getting paid huge jack for it.
